This Japanese-inspired chef knife is a versatile culinary knife for everyday use. Straight-edge, full-tang, forged stainless steel blade is German-grade, strong, and durable, allowing for volume and heftier cuts. Blade notches for thumb and finger allow for a professional grip as well as control and accuracy when slicing, dicing, and mincing. Pakkawood handle is weighted and balanced; this stabilized composite wood is ideal for culinary purposes as its heat and moisture-resistant. Included sleeve weathers real-world use while protecting the blade from dulling. Leather material will only soften over time to a beautiful, smooth patina. Simplify your knife collection with this heavy-duty heritage quality implement.

    Replacing an old knife

This was to replace an old knife that I'd been neglecting to replace for years, I was really drawn by the overal shape of the blade. It's very sturdy and cuts super clean. I was impressed by the initial sharpness it came with.

    Proper Chefs knife

Gifted to my husband who is a working chef. He loves it! He said, The knife is well balanced and the handle is perfect. I have been working with it for a few weeks and it is still sharp.

    Good knife for the money

This is a very good knife for the money; it's not star quality, and the rivets holding the blade to the handle could be better. But it is extremely sharp, holds an edge well, and is nicely balanced for doing hard kitchen work.

    Poor Quality Control

I received this knife as a gift and was impressed with the design. Unfortunately, the exposed metal tang in the handle is proud of the wooden scales resulting in rough / sharp exposed metal edges on the handle. I reached out to Barebones customer support and they suggested the wood needed to acclimate. This should not be the case as the wood is pakka wood which is resin infused laminate and should not shrink. Another reviewer on Amazon noted this same handle quality control issue. Because I received this as a gift, Barebones would not stand behind the product. This is clearly a quality control issue and Barebones should stand behind their product.
